Today CWEP celebrated the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King by joining @keepdurhambeautiful and @conservationtrust4nc for an afternoon of service in our community ♥️ Have you ever tried origami? The cold did not stop these AP Environmental Science students at Holly Springs High School. They had to search for storm drains on campus to take measurements, make observations, and find the flow direction🔎 Today marks the beginning of the Winter Solstice! A rainy day is a perfect day to learn about the water cycle!🌧️ We visited the Apex Fun Days Camp to play the Incredible Journey game and used a hydrograph to do a river flow activity. After reading “All Eyes on the Pond: by Michael J. Rosen at the Kenly Public Library, we crafted our very own pond dwelling creature-the Caddisfly! The presence of this tiny bug is an indicator of good water quality. The larvae create a unique protective casing to protect themselves, which we replicated here. 🐛 CWEP and City of Rocky Mount had a packed visit at JW Parker Middle School! We learned about watersheds, stormwater and completed a Project WET activity to learn how to reduce pollutants flowing downstream. 🐟 It's almost Turkey Day!🦃 The City of Raleigh Stormwater Art Contest opened yesterday! @raleighgov
