The Mason Farm Wastewater Treatment Plant uses physical\, chemical\, and biological processes to treat wastewater to a very high level before releasing it into Morgan Creek or for use as reclaimed water for non-drinking purposes. \nParticipants are required to wear closed toe\, walking shoes (no heels)\, and masks. Due to COVID precautions\, this tour will be mostly outside. \nThis free event is appropriate for most fitness levels. DESCRIPTION:March is a great a time to go birding and Cane Creek is the top eBird hotspot for Orange County! Local birding experts\, Karen Hogan and Kent Fiala\, will guide you through a variety of habitats\, including the lake\, a creek\, fields\, and woodland areas\, to some of the best birding spots along the shore of Cane Creek Reservoir. You might see songbirds\, waterfowl\, or raptors like ospreys and bald eagles. Last March\, they recorded over 70 unique bird species at the Reservoir and surrounding woodlands! \nBring sturdy shoes or\, better yet\, boots\, binoculars if you have them\, and a cell phone for reporting your bird observations on eBird\, a citizen science website run by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Dress warmly as temperatures at the Lake are usually a little colder. \nThis event is appropriate for all fitness levels.
