Regional Creek Week BioThon | March 13-20

Register to participate in the BioThon on iNaturalist here. If you are on the app, you can type in “CWEP Regional Creek Week BioThon” and add the project in the top right corner. There will be daily prizes for unique species observations! If you are a new iNaturalist user, sign up for our iNaturalist tutorial workshop on Wednesday, March 10th from 1-2pm.

Chapel Hill & Carrboro Creek Clean Up | March 13-April 17

Join us for the 2nd Annual Joint Creek Cleanup with Carrboro and Chapel Hill from March 13 to April 17, 2021. This virtual challenge invites you to grab a bag and pick up that trash you’ve seen around your neighborhood. Our goal is to beat last year’s trash total weighing in at 5,280 pounds. We will select winners for prizes throughout the challenge. More information on how to participate here.

Chapel Hill Canoe Fishing | March 13, 9-12pm

The Town of Chapel Hill is hosting a socially distanced in-person Canoe Fishing class from 9am-12pm on March 13th at the Jordan Lake Farmington Road Boat Ramp. Learn more and register for this event here.

Garner Creek Litter Creek Cleanup | March 14th

The Town of Garner is seeking volunteers (individuals or groups) to remove litter from their local waterways during Raleigh Regional Creek Week. Supplies (e.g. bags and gloves) will be available at the Holly Shelter at White Deer Park (2400 Aversboro Road) on Sunday, March 14 between 1 and 3pm for these self-led cleanups. Hillsborough Eno River Videos | March 15-20

Town of Hillsborough stormwater staff will visit a creek or a spot on the Eno River each day and post a video of their visit. Find out interesting sights that you can see for yourself during your next visit to each spot. Visit our Facebook and Twitter pages starting March 15.

Durham Do Your Doody Pledge | March 18, 4-6pm

Picking Up After Your Dog: Why It's Important | Hill's Pet

Visit Durham’s Piney Wood Dog Park and learn how to take the #DurhamDoodyPledge. Pick up fun giveaways and supplies to flag dog waste piles in your neighborhood at this socially-distanced tabling event.

Raleigh Creek Clean Up | March 20, 10am-12pm

Join the City of Raleigh for an in-person, socially distant creek clean up! Cleanups will happen at Laurel Hills Park (Crabtree Creek Watershed) and Apollo Heights Park (Walnut Creek Watershed). Registrants who attend the cleanup will be entered into a raffle to win a $50 REI gift card. To participate, register here.
